Accurately, these are a species of Comb Jelly (Mnemiopsis sp.). Comb Jellies are often confused with Jellyfish (Cnidaria), but are in a separate phylum (Ctenophora). The rainbow light show depicted here is a result of light scattering via movement of cilia comprising the organisms' comb rows (as well as a degree of bioluminescence). © Ryan M.
