Here's an excerpt of news coverage from the very short-lived Satellite News Channel (SNC) as 1982 gave way to 1983. SNC was carried locally on Cablevision of Chicago and Cablenet to name two providers.
Among those seen are anchor Charles Crawford, BusinessWeek's Sherrie Karabell, weatherman John Bulatewicz, sportscaster Dave Sims, and reports from Dennis Murray, Steve Taylor, Peter Allen Frost, Glenn Barbour and Jodi Amatouly.
Includes:
A few seconds of channel-switching, before the recorder decides to settle on SNC. We see a bit of the Air Force National Anthem Sign-Off (maybe from WGN?), what looks like some kind of kid's show possibly featuring a circus act sketch and "Chum the Chimp", a quick bit of end credits for some program, and finally some color bars for WMAQ-TV Channel 5.
We then see the tail end of a year-end look at those who died in 1982 (including Jack Webb, Paul Lynde, Marty Feldman, Henry Fonda and John Belushi)
At :58, Lyn (?) hands over to Charles who previews upcoming stories:

- Deaths from panicked crowds in London's Trafalgar Square
- Disaster area declared for Louisiana

- Eastern Airlines retrenching, with eight of 10 L-1011's grounded and plans to lay of 300 pilots; Pan Am also plans cutbacks
